My Magic Box

I will put into the box …
A Silver fern from a New Zealand tree’s
The bond of Friendship that will never end
The taste of snowflake mounting on my tongue
A beautiful flower that reminds me of the love in the people around me

I will put into the box …
A verse of the New Zealand Anthem that we sing as a family
Necklace of animals that I love as friends
Shine from the summery sun on a hot day
The story of the beautiful girl's and boys the light up my world

I will put into the box …
The New Zealand flag that I stand tall and proud by
A dress that I shall wed in from my Grandmother
A drawing by my best friend of Mickey mouse

My box is fashioned from Greenstone and Maori wood carving  and Steel, with some Tiki’s on the lid and Family photos in the corners. Its hinges are joint by the journeys I travel as I go over hills and under bridges as I go through roads that lead me home.
I shall share my good memories in my box only good shall ever enter my box for all my children and their children’s children for them to add in when I am gone.

Today we looked at a poem by Kit Wright called The Magic Box. Part of our learning this term has been to think about how we can use words to paint a picture in the mind of the reader when we write a description. I used things from my cultural thing that I like.

The Bengal tiger

The Bengal tiger (also known as the Royal Bengal tiger) is a subspecies of tiger, found in the Indian subcontinent. It is the national animal of Bangladesh and is considered, when fully grown, at nine feet, to be the second largest tiger in the world.
These big cats have a magnificent appearance. The coat color of this kind of jungle cats is reddish orange with narrow black/ gray and or brown stripes, generally in a vertical direction. The underside is white; a rare variant has a chalky white coat with darker stripes and icy blue eyes.
These carnivorous predators are dominant. The predators of the jungle cat are hunted by being stalked until  the tiger feels the opportunity to catch there prey off guard. Jungle tigers primarily hunt larger mammals including deer, wild boar, cattle and goats. To kill, the tiger raps its jaws around the prey's neck then snaps it. Then drags it away.
Bengal tigers are found in Bangladesh, India. They are known to live in both the grasslands and heated areas of the deserts where it’s wet and cool. These tigers are the most numerous species of tiger in Asia and is found in dense forests and mangrove swamps and jungles throughout Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. Although the Bengal tiger's range today is much smaller than what it once was. Due to the size and power of the tiger, it has no natural predators in its native environment. Humans that hunt these cats and habitat loss are the only threats to the  tigers.
Today, due to habitat loss caused by deforestation, and hunting by human poachers, they are considered to be an endangered species. Despite being the most common of all the other tiger species. There are to be around 2,000 or less left in the wild.
Tigers are seated up high in the top-of-the-food-chain. When a tiger has eaten its prey, the abandoned prey becomes the food for a variety of mammals such as birds and reptiles.

Some cultures believe that powdered tiger bones have medicinal values. Unfortunately, tigers are highly in demand to supply this damaging market.

Writing, Navrtive

Navrtive
It would never have happened if she hadn’t of been late.

It was almost midday, Rebecca was sitting in her big black Jeep she was waiting, Waiting for the light’s to turn green, It felt like it has been nearly forever scenes the last time she had seen a green light, she was still waiting but she sits there it was ultimately quite the only thing she could hear was her golden Swiss watch ticking “Tick Tick”.

Time was wasting, she sat in her hot car as she watched in her revive mirror more and more cars collected up behind her car, Rebecca was starting to worry, she could see the other car starting to stop she thought in her head it has to be my turn next.

Rebecca had only the very last five minutes to get to her launch party that she was hosting, it was a launch party to tell everyone about her good new and she really didn't want to be late, she had planned this lunch for the past three months and she knew that everyone one would be so happy to hear about her bun that has started  to cook.

She was only halfway there she quickly looks at her watch but instead she felt her belly kick, she smiles she's happy that she could feel the kick even though it kind of hurt she was pleased, she looked at her watch again to find that it was... “12 O’clock!” “I’m really late come on light green amando” she says to try and magically change the light but... it didn’t work she was still waiting.

She finally arrived she hops out of her black jeep, She is so excited she walks inside thinking of way to greet everybody but apologise at the same time she walks through to the big white hall she has a smile on her face that could reach the rainbow outside she stops at the doors that open her to all the people she invited  she walks closer and closer she grabs the handle slowly so pulls to open the door, it opens she looks up with a smile but then that smile turns to  a frown because nobody was there.

It would never have happened if she hadn’t of been late.

Direct Speech

“Do you think schools should provide breakfast for kids?” asked Jasmine.
“Yes they should, remember when you went to school and was hunger and you were asking people for food then they made fun of you, you didn’t like it so why would they like it?” stated Paige.
“It’s not funny to be hungry and get made fun of”remarked Jasmine.
“I know so do you think they should provide breakfast in school’s? I know I think they should” Paige explained.
“Well yea because some parents can’t afford food for their family” Jasmine said.
“So we’re on an agreement?” Paige wondered.

“Yes, Yes we are,” Jasmine wept

My Recount

 Tree Tops

We were on our way the a place called Tree Tops. When we got to Tree Tops it looked so cool and it looked fun. First we had morning tea for twenty minutes, after we had morning tea everyone got put into three groups, I was in the last group because I was in the last group my group got to watch the other groups get their harness and helmet on. When it was our groups turn to get our harness and helmet on. I was excited that we were on the trees next. Before we could go on the trees we had to do a safety check then we had a practice with a smaller course. Then we could go on to the higher courses the first course I went on was course three. On course three it had a long rope that I had to hold onto. I tried to jump on the next piece of wood with the rope. I had to do that until I got to the end. Then I started on the next thing on course three it was fun and very easy. I had to complete courses one and two so I could go on the other courses. Course’s one and two were like the same they both had a swing called the tarzan swing, it’s a long rope that I needed to sit on then push off the platform. After I was off the platform I swang into a very big net I clipped myself on to the net. It felt scary my hands were shaking my legs felt like they were asleep but I made it and it was fun and a little harder. After I did course one two and three I had some lunch then I went to course four. This course looked fun it was very high. It had a cool looking board I could ride so I went onto course four. The first things I saw was a rope. One rope that I walked across I kept falling but it was ok because my life line held me when I fell. I was happy that I didn’t get hurt. After I completed the walk across a rope there was a skateboard on some ropes. I stood on the board and pushed off it was awesome I got to the end of course four. I wanted to go on course eight so just incase I was too late to go on it I went on to it right after course four. I was right I only had time to do one more course so I went to course eight. It was cool I had to climb one letter then I jumped on to five pieces of wood. It was hard and fun. Then I had to go on the tarzan swing again. This one was very very high the net was hard to clip onto. I jumped onto the platform that was easy then I had to climb a letter again. When I got to the top of the letter it was so so so very high. Then a flying fox was there so I hooked onto it and went down. I was as scared as a mice getting chased. When I got my harness and helmet off we went back to sat on the bus I was tired. I had lots of fun at Tree Tops.
